OWASSO, Oklahoma – Folds of Honor is pleased to announce that it is awarding scholarships to students attending one of 14 leading private four-year colleges and universities in Michigan. Supported by a donation from the foundation of Michigan-based Cooper Standard, Folds of Honor is providing six educational scholarships of $10,000 each to the families of fallen and disabled service members in educational assistance to Folds of Honor recipients attending a Michigan Colleges Alliance (MCA) institution for the 2018/2019 academic year. But it doesn’t end there. The partnership will also be awarding two $25,000 scholarships per year starting in 2019 to be matched by MCA, providing full-ride scholarships to two very deserving students.
“We founded Folds of Honor 10 years ago with the mission to make life a little easier for the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country,” said Folds of Honor Founder Major Dan Rooney. “We couldn’t continue to do this important work without the support of incredible organizations like Cooper Standard and MCA, and we look forward to working together to provide even more assistance to our Michigan recipients.”
Donations to Folds of Honor help fund educational scholarships for the spouses and children of our military heroes who have been killed or disabled while in active duty. In addition to supporting education, tutoring and summer camps for children K-12, Folds of Honor provides higher education tuition assistance to spouses and children. The donation from Cooper Standard and the match from MCA will give Michigan-based military families even more opportunity to attend a leading college or university.
“Through the Cooper Standard Foundation, we are pleased to expand our efforts to support military veterans by honoring the families of those who make so many sacrifices for our country,” said Jeffrey Edwards, chairman and CEO, Cooper Standard. “With this new partnership, we hope to make a lasting impact through education and give back to our military families who have given so much for our freedom.”
“The Michigan Colleges Alliance is proud to partner with Cooper Standard and Folds of Honor to provide this unique scholarship opportunity for children and spouses of our military heroes,” said Bob Bartlett, president, Michigan Colleges Alliance. “It’s a natural fit for our organization, as Michigan Colleges Alliance schools are value-based institutions with a strong sense of patriotism.”
